Choosing a Water Filter System

Choosing a Water Filter System

Pure, clean water is an important part of living a healthier life, but there are a lot of options available. On this page we hope to help you find the right option for you.

The contaminate removal capacity of any system will depend on the quality of the incoming water. You can usually contact your local water company for a report.

Note about sediment: If there is a high amount of sediment in your water, you will want to add on a sediment filter to any water purification system. This will keep your main filters from becoming clogged too quickly.

Purifying Water in Every Tap

Whole House Water Filtration Systems are placed on the water line before the hot water heater. The water coming into the house is purified for every tap in the house. If you want to cover every source, a whole house system can be more affordable than placing point-of-use systems in every room.

The Ultimate Whole House System has five filtration stages as well as a water softener and a cold water meter. It can remove up to 99% of contaminates, including fluoride.

The four stage Whole House System can reduce up to 95%+ of contaminates, including fluoride.

The 20" Three Stage System can remove up to 99% of contaminates, as well as fluoride to a lesser extent than the four stage option. This is ideal if you want a lot of filtration but need something that doesn't take up as much space as the four or five stage.

If you need to save more space and are primarily concerned with contaminates like metals, chlorine, nitrates, pesticides and chloramines, but aren't as concerned about fluoride, the 10" Three Stage System is ideal. A 10" four stage system is also available.

Point-of-Use - Contaminate and Fluoride Removal

These systems are designed to remove the highest number of contaminates as well as fluoride, which can be difficult to reduce. The Countertop and Undercounter multi-stage systems can be tailored to your needs. If you only need basic purification, choose a two stage. If you want more contaminate removal, you can choose as many as five stages. The Energy Life System is similar but includes a special added filter. These systems use a combination of bone char, KDF/GAC and other filters.

The Reverse Osmosis System with Deionization is another great option that removes up to 99.999% of fluoride as well as other contaminates.

Point of Use - Standard

These systems are ideal for those who want cleaner water but don't necessarily care to remove fluoride. They will remove a number of contaminates and odors and polish the water for better taste.

As with the systems above, the more stages in the system, the cleaner the water will be.

Other Water Purifiers

We carry a number of other water purification systems like Ultraviolet Sterilizers and Ozone Sanitation Systems, as well as replacement filters.

You can always view our entire Water Quality category for the full selection, and feel free to contact us with specific questions about your water purification needs.

What are you water purification goals?

I want to remove fluoride and other contaminates

Ideal Systems: Whole House Fluoride Removal System, Ultimate Whole House System, Point-of-Use Countertop System, Point-of-Use Undercounter System, Reverse Osmosis with Deionization System

Notes: For point-of-use systems, the more stages, the better for fluoride. Fluoride is very difficult to remove but bone char does a great job given enough contact time. The remove the majority of fluoride, as well as chlorine, metals, bacteria, and more, four or face stage systems are ideal. Lesser stages will still remove a great deal, if not most, chlorine, metals and other contaminates, but they will remove less fluoride.

Point-of-Use or Whole House: Whole House Systems will cover the entire home and are a great option if you have room on your water supply line before it enters the water heater. Point-of-Use systems are ideal if you don't have a place to install a whole house unit or you only need to cover one tap at a time.

I want to keep fluoride and remove other contaminates

Ideal Systems: Two Stage Countertop, Two Stage Undercounter, Three Stage Undercounter, Doulton Filter for City Use, Doulton Filter for Well Water

Notes: If removing fluoride is not a concern, these systems are ideal for removing many odors, chlorine, metals, bacteria and other contaminates, while polishing taste for better water overall. The two stage systems are good basic systems, while the three stage and Doulton filters will remove higher levels of pollution.
