What can the sun do for me?

Wavelengths from the sun can start a chemical chain reaction in your body that produces Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiencies may help explain some cases of autism, breast cancer progression, prostate cancer and other illnesses. It can boost bone strength by encouraging the body to absorb calcium. Vitamin D may also help ward off diabetes, multiple sclerosis, gum disease and some cancers.

Taking Vitamin D supplements can be helpful, but very little is actually absorbed from most marketed vitamins. Sun rays can help boost Vitamin D very effectively.

The sun's rays are also shown to help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is caused in part by limited sun exposure. Think of it this way - a lot of people get depressed around the holidays, when they stay inside more due to the cold. A little sunshine can go a long way.
