The Personal Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy System by Body Balance is designed to aid in the healing of a variety of health problems.
The Personal PEFT System is used for treatment of conditions like bone fractures, depression, tissue problems, multiple sclerosis, migraines, pain, diabetes and more. These systems come with lifetime customer service and a three year warranty from a leader in alternative wellness, Body Balance Systems.
How does it work?
This system uses pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT), which has also been called pulse magnetotherapy or pulsed magnetic therapy. This is a reparative technique used in orthopedics to treat failed fusions, non-union fractures, depression and chronic pain. When it comes to bone healing, electric energy is used to direct magnetic pulses through the injured tissue that induces a signal to stimulate cellular repair. Studies have shown this can also be effective in healing soft tissue wounds, improving range of motion and decreasing pain.
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy has shown that it can be useful for a range of conditions through well documented trials. These units can offer an additive solution for bone growth and battling depression.
A bit of history about the therapy
Clinical uses of magnetic field therapy date back for over 500 years. Paracelsus, a 15th century Swiss physician, used naturally magnetized bits of magnetite for treating hemorrhage, epilepsy and diarrhea. Franz Anton, an 18th century Austrian physician, talked about how passing magnets over open veins had healing properties. Magnetic ointments were being made in New York in the mid 19th century as remedies for bowel inflammation, headaches, fever sores, burns, gout, toothache and rheumatism.
The FDA approved similar devices for stimulating bone growth in 1979. The FDA then approved the therapy as an adjunct for patients at high risk of non-fusion after cervical fusion surgery. The therapy has been found to be effective and safe for treating delayed unions in long bone fractures.
NASA was awarded a patent in 2009 for a device that used pulsed electromagnetic fields to increase tissue repair in mammals, with the intent of helping astronauts avoid bone loss in space. Health Canada certified PEMF in 2002 for treating severe depression. The FDA approved a device in 2011 for patients who failed to respond to antidepressants.
