Allergy Relief
With the first signs of Spring come the first signs of seasonal allergy symptoms. Sneezing, runny nose, and itchy and watery eyes are just a few of the symptoms.
In general, an allergy is a reaction to a usually harmless substance that does not bother most people. Allergens come into the body through airborne particles, through the skin or through food. AAFA executive director Mary Worstell warns that for allergy sufferers, "the bedroom may be the most dangerous room in the house." Pillows, stuffed toys, mattresses and carpets can provide a perfect environment for allergens to thrive.
To reduce allergy symptoms, wash your hands frequently, shower and wash your hair every night to keep allergens from getting onto your bedding, avoid hanging laundry out to dry, stay inside when pollen counts are high, and avoid smoke and pollution whenever possible.
If you are prone to allergies and these tips are not enough, you might want to consider an air purifier and home sanitizers. Our Bed and Bath section also has organic bedding that might reduce your allergen contact.
