Self-cleaning:  Ionways units include an automatic self-cleaning mechanism that cleans the critical elements of the machine after every use, helping eliminate mineral buildup and lengthening the life of the ionizer.  They also include the DARC cleaning system that eliminates mineral scaling by creating a 100% effective 1:1 acidic to alkaline cleaning ratio. 

Water filtration:  Some ionizers only ionize water but do not remove harmful contaminates.  AlkaViva ionizers use UltraWater filtration, which leaves your water 99.9% contaminate free.  With some models you can choose to add on fluoride filtration as well!

Mesh Plates:  Flat plates can't channel current, creating an inconsistent electron saturation.  Slotted plates create consistent paths, leading to better electron dispersement and are superior to flat plates.  Ionways uses mesh plates which have the same basic principles as slotted plates with improved channeling.  Current saturates the plate evenly, increasing surface area that is used to alter the water.

Bigger plates use more power but don't always deliver it efficently because of their size - bigger plate size means more resistance.  They require a faster electron flow but operate with less efficiency or predictability.  Bigger is not necesarily better - efficiency and performance matter more.
