In the August 24/31 issue of Newsweek, Andrew Romano wrote about toilet paper and its effects on people and the environment. For one thing, you never get totally clean using toilet paper alone. Plus, according to the article, the average American “uses 57 sheets of toilet paper a day…tossing all the TP in America would save 15 million trees, 17.3 terawatts of electricity, and more than 473 billion gallons of water annually.” And how does he say we can toss out the toilet paper?
